Go green initiative
blank
blank
S. Nagarajan, Executive Housekeeper, The Residency Towers, has taken a green effort - Miyawaki method of afforestation which involves planting many random trees close together in a small area to enrich the green cover and reinforce the richness of the land. This will lead to co-existence of plants. Each plant draws from the other vital nutrients and grow to become strong and healthy.

He approached an NGO called Thuvakkam to be a part of this go green initiative. Jain Public school at Pallavaram, Chennai allocated a part of their land for this novel initiative. He involved the Head of the school and students, along with their parents to be a part of this go green program which enthused them.

Approach to tackle MRSA
blank
blank
In the US, 85% of all MRSA infections are acquired in healthcare facilities, and also in many other countries including India, at varied levels. In the US, community-acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA) infection rates are not even being reported and they are increasing.

A bundled, comprehensive approach is needed for infection control in healthcare facilities, such as:
• Active detection & isolation (using rapid testing)
• Strict adherence to hand hygiene
• Thorough decontamination of the environment using the latest technology
• Implementing a good stewardship program for antibiotics
• All high-risk patients should be screened upon admission to a hospital.
