International Housekeepers’ Summit 2018 – Press Conference

The Ministry of Tourism announced support to the 3rd International Housekeepers’ Summit at the Press Conference hosted by Shangri-La Hotel on Monday, June 4, 2018. Representing the Hon’ble Minister Mr John Amaratunga at the Press Conference, Senior Advisor Felix Srimal Rodrigo, Ministry of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs, said, “I am happy to know that the Asian Housekeepers are organising the International Housekeepers Summit, and this is the way forward and the first step. Such events will give more and more recognition to housekeeping department. On behalf of the minister I wish you all a great success.”

Welcoming the chief guest, Mr Timothy Wright, Vice President & General Manager of Shangri-La Hotels, said, “The International Housekeepers Summit is a great opportunity for hoteliers and for professionals to meet experts and fellow professionals and learn the new trends & technology available in this industry.” We look forward to working with Virtual Info Systems Pvt Ltd, the organisers, in creating an interesting and meaningful conference and showcasing our Sri Lankan hospitality at Shangri-La hotel,” he added.

Jayaprakash Nair, Managing Director of Virtual Info Systems Pvt Ltd, the organiser of the International Housekeepers Summit, said, “With the prime motive to prepare the housekeepers to brace this changing scenario and providing them with the right knowhow, technology, traits and product information, the International Housekeepers Summit has put together well-thought sessions, and this will enable the housekeepers to not only improve efficiency but add to the revenue graph of the hotel and above all move up in the corporate ladder,” he added.

Hari Krishnan representing the Asian Housekeepers Association, said, “IHS2018 will have highly interactive session, including housekeeping on a digital platform, education & training, outsourcing & sustainability, quality, and linen care among all other topics related to housekeeping.”

In a major initiative taken by housekeepers across Asia, the International Housekeepers’ Summit that was launched in 2016, has today become Asia’s largest convention of hospitality housekeeping professionals who will be converging in Colombo from over 15 countries.
