NMMC to improve waste management

In a bid to improve solid waste management in Navi Mumbai, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has sanctioned a loan of र32 crore to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). The amount, given under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), will go towards improving the waste management system, especially at their landfill site at Turbhe. The loan can be utilised to improve on-site activities, like waste processing and treatment as well as collection of waste. According to experts, Navi Mumbai currently boasts one of the most comprehensive waste collection and treatment facilities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
