The most dynamic and fast-growing association of housekeepers in India, I-Professional Housekeepers’ Association, set a new chapter with the IPHA awards. It was a moment of pride and honour for the Legends to be among the three generations of housekeepers – students, active housekeepers and retired housekeepers.

Praising the activities of IPHA and contribution to housekeeping, recipients of Living Legend Awards – Darshan Singh, Former Director of Housekeeping Oberoi hotels and General Manager Housekeeping Leela Hotels; Villie Benjamin, Former Head of Administration of Reliance Corporate Head office; and Neela Rege, Former Sr. Corporate Manager- Housekeeping, Indian Hotels Company, The Taj Mahal Hotel – regretted that housekeeping was never among the top choices of pursuing a career and sadly nothing much has changed even today.

IPHA has taken up task of changing the perception about housekeeping right at the grassroots level.

The other awards given away include the following:

Most promising Housekeeping Leader of the Year: Western region Shilpi Khanna, J W Marriott Sahar, Mumbai

Most promising Housekeeping Leader of the Year: Eastern region Debasis Chatterjee, ITC Sonar Bangla, Kolkata

Most promising Housekeeping Leader of the Year: Southern region Tanaya Dutta Choudhury, The Park Hotel, Chennai

Most promising Housekeeping Leader of the Year: Northern region Harinder Kishore, Andaz Hotel, Delhi

Promising Gen X Housekeeper: Ayush Agarwal, Oyo Rooms, Delhi Usman Alam, Lemontree, Delhi Anup Kundap, Ramada Powai, Mumbai
