Odour control in wastewater

In operation since May 1993, the Kolkata-based Shubh Chem is the supplier, distributor and importer of chemicals, catering to various industries like textile, leather, rubber, paper, bakery, paints, glass, metal, foundry, construction, pharmaceuticals and water treatment plants.

A specialist in wastewater treatment, odour treatment, leather and surface treatments, Shubh Chem’s products are eco-friendly, innovative and of high quality procured from leading MNCs in Europe.

Shubh Chem recently launched a ready-to-use; multi component active liquid named Biotol Fresh, which stops foul smell released from wastewater and its network systems during the biological process. Made in Germany, the liquid saves water, time and energy. “Using bleaching powder, caustic soda, phenyl, acid, aroma and other chemicals in the form of liquid, powder, tablet or spray, to do away with the odour problem at your private, social and business premises, may prove to be harmful. The toxic foul smell may cause unpleasantness, nervousness, vertigo, suffocation, allergy, irritation in the eye and even paralysis,” said K K Bagri, Managing Partner of Shubh Chem.

According to Bagri, Biotol fresh is ideal for waste water treatment plants because it prevents odour coming from Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) gas in the wastewater and even from the ETP & STP plants. It has also proved helpful for paper mills because the liquid has the ability to nuetralise foul smell emitting from the paper pulp. The liquid has application in building, hotel, mall, hospital, school, office, factory and municipal corporations. The liquid could be dropped into drains, sinks, pipes, basin, commode, bath tub, washing machine, water cooler, sewer, wet garbage and in wet bin. “Biotol can be applied even in urinals, but it is ineffective in controlling the odour of the ammonia gas from the urinals.”

Beside Biotol Fresh, Shub Chem also distributes marble polisher – Oxalic acid. Oxalic acid is not only effective on marble polisher but also effective on mosaic floor, slabs and even tiles.

Bagri feels that today the end users are aware of what they want. “When it comes to selecting products, I have noticed a remarkable increase in the level of awareness among the clients.”
