Hyderabad seeks RFP for garbage collection

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has issued an RFP (Request For Proposal) from private parties for the maintenance, upkeep and beautification of various roads of the mega-city. Besides this, the private parties have also been invited to collect household trash and office garbage on a door-to-door and office-to-office basis. They also have to collect waste from hotels and restaurants.

According to the GHMC sources, under the first phase of RFP and outsourcing job, works for Begumpet flyover-Punjagutta, Road No. 2 & 3 of Banjara Hills, Masab Tank-Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, and Road 12, Banjara Hills-Filmnagar junction and till Jubilee Hills checkpost, Raj Bhavan Road from Somajiguda to Khairtabad, Khairatabad-Telugu Thalli flyover, Ambedkar statue-Assembly will be given to private contractors.

As per the RFP, the private contractors can retain the income earned from recycling the trash.
