Ahmedabad has set up an electronic waste collection system with the base being ready and the collection to begin in two to three weeks. There will be collection points in colleges, petrol pumps and malls. Plans are on to repair and upgrade discarded computers and sent them to rural and semi-urban areas. It will also have a door to door survey of e-waste and create awareness. Special anti theft bins to handle fragile materials like tube lights and bulbs will also be installed.
