Cleaning standards mandatory in Punjab hospitals

CHANDIGARH: Close on the heels of mounting complaints about ill-sanitation and lack of cleanliness in different hospitals in Punjab, the State Government has issued a directive to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry to inspect all the state-run hospitals.

Punjab Minister for Health and Family WelfareSurjit Kumar Jiyani has announced that he will visit all the Government hospitals in the State to ascertain that their sanitation and cleanliness conditions improve.

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, ViniMahajan issued directions regarding mandatory cleaning of all hospitals.All civil surgeons and senior medical officers have been a week’s time to prepare for the cleanliness/sanitation drive. Funds have been allocated to all hospitals for this purpose. Strict actions would be taken against the hospitals if they fail to maintain cleanliness.
