BSCs sought to clean coaches

Eastern Central Railway at Dhanbad is planning to outsource mechanised cleaning of coaches at the Barkakana and Singrauli Coaching depots for a period of three years. The work involves intensive mechanised cleaning inside the coaches, on the pits and platforms/yard lines at the depots.

Vivek Mohan, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, says, “For every pit line/platform/yard line at the depots, there shall be set of machines comprising of a high pressure jet machine, a scrubber and a vacuum cleaner.” The rakes will be taken up for cleaning depending on the arrival timing of trains at terminating stations.

The railway has laid down specific guidelines for the contractor in the use of compact and portable cleaning machines covering all the safety precautions. A system of checking quality of cleanliness for each item of work with a score card shall also be filled during inspection and assessment.
